😛 I don't work so it doesn't matter to me. Well I would work if I could...Saturday for the folks that work weekdays, meaning one more day off for them.
I can work, but I'm currently unemployed and have been since June of last year. My savings are slowly starting to drain away, so I need to find a job soon.😛 I don't work so it doesn't matter to me. Well I would work if I could...
Is there many jobs open over there? Government claims there's lots of jobs in NZ that are available but I doubt it.I can work, but I'm currently unemployed and have been since June of last year. My savings are slowly starting to drain away, so I need to find a job soon.
Mainly retail and the food industry if you're pretty inexperienced like me. Those are the only industries I've ever been in.Is there many jobs open over there?
I would do IT if it was cheap enough to get qualifications. I can get student loans but I'll be paying that back for a very long time.Mainly retail and the food industry if you're pretty inexperienced like me. Those are the only industries I've ever been in.
I know some front-end coding languages, but I doubt I know enough to become an actual web developer.I would do IT if it was cheap enough to get qualifications.
Never hurts to jump on some freelance sites and get some experience, or contribute to open source projects. Join a dev team like phpBB or SMF, gain experience doing bits and pieces until you feel more confident and then you've built up a decent amount of experience for your resumeI know some front-end coding languages, but I doubt I know enough to become an actual web developer.
Wouldn't I have to have a lot of experience and be hand-picked to join a dev team?Never hurts to jump on some freelance sites and get some experience, or contribute to open source projects. You can start contributing bits of code, as most of them use GitHub or something similar to store their projects, so once you start to contribute they will review and take notice and, in all likelihood, ask if you'd like to join their team. Explain your situation, you're attempting to get more comfortable as a developer, you want to learn "A, B, C" and if they're ok with you learning while you work with them (they will be, open source projects love any help) then you're happy to help. It's a two-way street in the open source game 🙂Wouldn't I have to have a lot of experience and be hand-picked to join a dev team?
It can be a little complex at times, but start by taking a simpler job, do the work and move onto another, something that has parts you might not know, challenge yourself with each job and keep pushing until you're comfortable.I've tried some freelance sites and most of them are just complex and still require you to generally know things I don't know.
Most forum software requires knowledge of PHP, don't they? You can start contributing bits of code, as most of them use GitHub or something similar to store their projects, so once you start to contribute they will review and take notice and, in all likelihood, ask if you'd like to join their team. What freelance platforms would you recommend? It can be a little complex at times, but start by taking a simpler job, do the work and move onto another, something that has parts you might not know, challenge yourself with each job and keep pushing until you're comfortable.
Not always, most take front-end developers, as well. Most forum software requires knowledge of PHP, don't they?
