Hey, all!
Been playing RS today. Turns out all my old friends from my forum mod days are all player moderators too now. 😛 it was fairly intimidating to PM old friend after old friend, to see that they're all moderators! 😛

Some of them did, some of them didn't. 😛
The first never did say much. Either he was busy, or he didn't want to talk to me. I said something like "Do you remember me" and he replied "Yep," and nothing else. I asked him some other question, got a super short reply, asked him another, and he logged out five minutes later. 😛 note that in RS, you can "appear" to log out of you want to.
The second person was a very senior mod on both the player and forum team, who had helped mentor me when I first joined the team. She was nice, but a bit held back initially, and didn't recognize me.
The third was nice, compared to the others. Answered my questions, at least most of them.
The fourth wouldn't even tell me what her old display name was back when she was a forum mod. 😛 she said something like "yeah, I remove people who I haven't talked to in a while."
All four of these people were either moderators both in game or on the forums, or in the case of the last one, someone who switched teams. All of them were either overly reserved or a little bit rude. 😛
RuneScape forum/player mods are so much like stereotypes of real world cops that it's not even funny. I know, because I was one of them! 😛

Being a moderator on the RSOF is a truly unique experience compared to most other forums. The forum has a clique of about 50 dedicated trolls who are intentionally causing problems, and all very active. In addition, there are price manipulators, clan fanatics, and people with generally hot tempers. When dealing with the report queue, it is entirely natural to run into a thread which required you to ban three people for whatever reason. After banning them, one might have an alt account which he/she would use to spam the forum with threads that have your name as the title. Finally, if you don't have your status set to offline in the game, you might get abusive PMs too.
So, yeah. 😛
