The thing is finding a prize which people will post for.
Money is always good BUT not always cost effective.
For my latest contest I offered a cash prize of $100.
Well, your forum is in an extremely competitive and saturated market. So, you will have to take an approach of patience and uniqueness. What makes your forum so special that visitors should join it when compared to the thousands of other webmaster forums?
Have an article contest or something. Have members submit articles that can help other internet marketers, that way you get a lot of useful content and it creates some buzz around the community.
Not sure if you have it already, but images that have links back to your forums are a great way to link build. Make it as easy as possible for others to link back to your forum.
Also, try some guest posting on other blogs that are relevant to your niche. Not only for link building purposes, but for referral traffic as well. Get your name out there!
