I have applied to many different places and my friend that went with me got called by Target for seasonal and possibly regular. He called them to follow up on his app, I didnt. So I am about to call and get a follow up. Im worried about the interview part if I do get accepted.

Can anyone that has had a real job before give me some tips on what to not do and good things to do during an interview? Give me some ideas of the questions they are going to ask as well please.

Smiling and making eye contact can help, and not acting nervous (even if you are.

depending on what job your going for......ask this question, it always looks good on you too.

'From the last person who had this position Im applying for..what would you like to be done differently from your next emploee?'

Don't get pulled over on the way there.

Get there a few minutes early. You'll be calm and relaxed. Be hydrated, comfortable, polite and confident. Don't try and be something you're not. It's a job, not a movie set.

Best thing to do in an interview is be your self and not let them smell your fear (if you have any). Confidence (or faking confidence) goes a long way.

Also you know you will have to B.S. your way through a few answers but try not to let the B.S. be too over the top.

Don't fake confidence. It's pretty obvious when you do that. Everyone is nervous. It's part of the interview. Pretending you're not is sillier than a clown juggling bananas while eating a flaming bag of burritos.

No one is good at it. Even if you are the most prepared person in the world, everyone knows you're still nervous to a degree.

Nope. Even people like Donald Trump get nervous. He's the most confident person in the world. He has all the money and buildings that are imaginable, but he even admits he gets a little nervous during interviews, proposals, etc.

I dont need to post a bunch of stuff about (for example) donald trump to back up my opinion. It is what it is.

Stay focused and listen clearly. Answer any and all questions concisely. Be honest with your responses as they will find out sooner or later what you have experience with. Keep eye contact and be confident in your own abilities. No matter what position you are going for, whether it be puke cleaner at the carnival or CEO of a company... feel like you will be an asset to this company and you are quite worthy of the position at hand.

I agree, do not show that you are overly nervous. Just tell yourself that you are worthy of the position and do not be afraid to take a couple of breaths before responding to whatever questions are asked. Better to take a second to answer correctly than to respond immideately and look like a fool.

These are not only tips for a job, but for any conversation. If you are confident people will be drawn to you. I know I've faked plenty of confidence... funny enough the one job interview I went into nervous I did not get a call back for. My final job interview I forgot my good shoes and ended up wearing a pair of raggy shoes with holes in them I believe. I asked my managers, who performed the interview, months later if they had noticed them..they had no idea. My crappy shoes actually made me have to show more confidence and more eye contact to compensate for my lack of decent footwear. If I ever move to another company I have considered wearing crappy shoes again just to aid in that confidence urgency that I felt that one day. 🙂

Thanks everyone for the tips! I called Target today and I got an interview Friday at 9:30 right after my friend!

Well, tomorrow is the day! I got the interview at 9:30 in the morning.

### Well, the interview went good! After the first one, 5 minutes later, I was interviewed again by someone else. Now, I have been asked to come back Monday at 10:15am to speak with the Manager or the HR.
