Help with software conversion.

Hi,
I am looking to convert my forum from MyBB to ElkArte but will need some assistance with the conversion as the technical side I am not familiar with. There is a converter that ElkArte uses, here: http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=3204.0. Please PM me if you are able to lend a hand.

there's a MyBB Importer available.. It's part of the OpenImporter..

I like it's simplicity, design, and feature set. I looked at some other softwares as well but ElkArte ended up being the best choice.

Are you sure? I'd imagine it would alienate your members and potential members because most people have never heard of it, let alone use it. You should switch to XenForo or IPB.

I have never heard of that forum software but which part of the conversion do you need help with?

Before doing the conversion, just make sure that the reverse is possible. In case if you don't like it.

Thanks, I've settled on ElkArte though. Although members may have not heard of the software I still think the transition will be smooth- like I said it's a simple software, both in design and function. It's has some similarities to MyBB as well. I'm not currently looking to move to a paid software so XenForo and IPB would be out.

Hm actually now that I've looked at the instructions again it may be simpler than I thought. It seems like I just need to upload the 3 files to the ElkArte directory.... I'm assuming the ElkArte directory is created when I install ElkArte? And then, seeing as you "call import.php" from your browser the rest of the conversion setup seems like a guided install? Not sure that's correct is why I've held off on doing the conversion. I have to transfer my domain as well.
