Ok, SO. There is a computer on my network I want to connect to.

I added me as a user will full control and turned the guest account on. Whenever I try to open up the comp. in my network tab on my computer, it gives me a login. Neither my username and password or guest works. All have full control. It kicks it back to say:
2uz6nt4.webp

It is kicking it back to my laptop name, not the computer name. HOW DO I FIX THIS?

EDIT: My netbook connects fine with no authentication

I'm not sure dude. Try calling the free support # for windows. Maybe they can help you with your problem or redirect you to someone that may have an answer.

Maybe try calling your internet provider's customer service and/or your router's support line.

Tried them too. I couldn't call because I needed to pay my bill. When I tried paying (talked in all my billing info, the automated thing said "Sorry, I messed something up. Can we try again?".

Live chat told me to call support.

Here we are.

Maybe the firewall on your network computer is preventing you from connecting. You can try turning off the firewall for your computer and the other computer.

I turned off Windows Firewall completly :\

When you set up the sharing connection your asked to include a universal username and password to use for all the computers... try and find it. =\

Nothing is working. Maybe I configured it wrong 😛 Which I probably did. Because this comp at work connects to a server here which is server 2003. The computer I want to view files on the server from has the same OS as the one at home. Soo 😛

Could it be 2000 may just not work?

I don't know much about servers and never done them except once setting up a connection over the network switch between my and my brother's system. However we also had some problems and turned out that the ip's were conflicting.

You can check that too just in case there has been a error.

Hopefully I'm understanding what you're trying to describe. Here, try this:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options

Scroll down until you find Network Access: Sharing and security model for local accounts

Select: Guest only

* Let me know if this works.

In regards to your problem, I'm not all too sure about servers and the like so i'm not much help. =/
