Hello everybody.

Just signed up and was wandering how such a large forum with so many users had a PR of 0 on it's main page. What's going on here?

Hey, welcome to ForumPromotion!

PageRank is dependant on over 200 factors, not just traffic ~wink~ For a good while now all of out outbound links had "dofollow" attributes, which caused a bad average pagerank. Only recently were they re-wrote to nofollow, so hopefully pagerank will be with us sooner or later ~razz~

Hmm strange, I didn't know you could loose pagerank by having regular outbound links on your pages. Pretty new for me!

How long have these forums been up and running then?
Just curious...

Welcome to FP, it is great to have you here!

We will be two years old on April 7th.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'll try and remember to congratulate you all on the 7th.

That's odd, why is FOTM #24 next month? ~lol~
-lol-

Interesting question -lol-

We probably lost count somewhere along the line -lol-

the bad thing about this pagerank part is that I searched for post exchange forums on google quite a while and your forum was not listed, later on a friend pointed me here but this just showed me how important pagerank is.

We are ranked quite highly in quite alot of main searches and are top for Forum Promotion and we do get loads of hits from search engines a month. We get 1000+ hits from Google search a month. Page rank doesn't help much when i comes to search engine positioning anyway.

Although anchor on inbound links will get you higher in the SERPs, PR does still seem to stand for the quality of a website. Some visitors might come here, look at the PR, and say WTF this site isn't even 'recognized' by Google, I might as well leave.
Of course this only goes for people that are actively involved with SEO and know what PR stands for (and that is exactly the traffic this site would get 😀). I thought the same thing, almost left, but then decided to delve deeper, only to discover a thriving community! I was supprised, hence my question.

Anyway, hope Google will soon recognize the value of these forums!
