Who has hiked or lived at a high altitude? Note, there is less oxygen intake the further you go up - and once you get to the level in the Alps or Rockies, it can be dangerous. Anyway, I've never experienced that, the highest mountainous areas around here are high (Clinch Mountains, Blue Ridge especially) but they aren't as high as The Rockies.

I live somewhere around 3k feet above sea level. Doesn't sound like much but if I have to go to town for anything I need to make sure my ears pop. Same thing when I go higher.

I cannot remember the highest altitude I've been at, but it's somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 meters (11-13,000 feet). Definitely can feel it at that point. I live in a very mountainous country but (un)fortunately have never gotten to experience any of the really high treks here.

The highest I've lived at is around 1,600 meters / 5,000 feet

Does adding plants increase oxygen to a significant level? That might help in a home so high up.
