Hey guys,

So www.holderhost.com is being revamped. Plato P. (xpl0iter owner of www.WebGurubb.com) will be coming on as a co-owner which is really going to help me out. What I really want to now is whether we should change the shared packages being offered.

The Plans - as they stand- are:

SH1 - $3.99 / month
- Host 1 domain.
- Unlimited Diskspace and Bandwidth.
- Unlimited Other features.

SH2 - $9.99 / month
- Host Unlimited domain.
- Unlimited Diskspace and Bandwidth.
- Unlimited Other features.

I think a least one "unlimited" plan should definitely be in there. I know some people have issues with offering "unlimited" however I see it as being fine as long as a fair price is charged and a clear TOS is outlined. I'm also looking for some plan names.

Any help would be appreciated. 😀

Thanks,
Sam

P.S. HolderHost has been around for over 11 months now- however very little marketing has been done. Also- if you are an existing client of HH, your plan will not be changing.

It would be kind of tough for someone outside, who doesn't know much about your servers, costs etc, to determine what packages you should market.

From the company's point of view, you want to make profit & provide reliable services and support. You also have your competition and marketing to worry about. You need to take all that into consideration and carefully create new packages. An outsider is most likely not going to be able (or even if they were) will not do it for you. Because an outsider, thinks in the client's point of view...

From the clients point of view, it's always "more for less is always better." In all honesty, most people go with the company that provides the most. But there are others, who are careful about choosing their host and will consider many things, of which the most important one is - is the company smart? Are their plans what I'm looking for or need? ie: your first package, 1 hosted domain with unlimited space/bandwidth; to me it makes no sense because if I'm only going to be hosting one website - on a shared host..what am I going to do with unlimited resources: of which I'm probably actually very limited. Wouldn't I rather go with a web host who is honest in their marketing and packaging and I clearly know what resources I'm getting?

But again, the web hosting industry is a tough market and you can't compete without providing unlimited everything. But make clearer and smarter unlimited packages, and know your niche and specific market.

Hi Dean,

Thank you very much for your advice. It's certainly true that most clients hosting 1 domain will not use more than a few Gbs of diskspace. However there is the odd occasion where they would. I suppose the best thing to do would be to decide upon a niche target market that HolderHost would like to focus on and design packages to fit those needs.

Again- thanks for your advice here, 🙂
