Hello,

I would like to announce that holderhost is now under new ownership!

I'm proud to say I ran the business, alongside Plato, for over 3 years. It was certainly an interesting ride. We had over 300 clients (with a few "big" clients) on 7 servers (+ client servers). WHMCS forecast revenue was for an annual rate of $24,000. holderhost was definitely small but I am very happy with what we achieved for the dedicated hard work we put in.

holderhost was revamped in 2013 - after 1 year -and we started with 1 TurnKeyInternet reseller to grow the business to where it is today.

The deal was finalized on Flippa and I'm sure all clients will be informed about the new ownership soon enough.

Thanks. I really appreciate all the good clients that have supported us.

Did you get a decent payout?

It wasn't bad but holderhost was never "set-up" to be sold. Had we spent another 6 months preparing the business for sale, it would have fetched a lot more. BUT: it may surprise you that I never set holderhost up to make money. I actually wanted to learn about running a business. When I stopped learning (as much as I had been) and stopped enjoying running holderhost, we decided to sell.

Hosting is an incredibly competitive business much like the airline industry....

Glad you got an interested buyer, and hope they manage the business well, and take it to even greater heights! I wish the new owner all the best. :cheer:

That's the same thought I have when I start a new site - unfortunately all things must come to an end.

Glad the sale went good.

Good luck with your future endeavors. 🙂 What made you not enjoy running HolderHost anymore?

Wow! holderhost definitely is a reputable host that you've done a good job building, Sam. Have fun with your future projects!

Probably the general state of the hosting industry. For the most part, things ran smoothly after we switched away from a very poor support/ systems admin provider. But people want more for less. At the moment, it's a real race to the bottom in the VPS market especially.

What a lot of clients do not seem to understand about offering hosting is: the cheaper a service is, the more corners have to be cut. Most hosts overload their servers, for our recent seriously cheap VPSes we did not (preferring to use a datacenter without 99.9% uptime record to cur costs). People expected perfect uptime as well as a fast VPS, 24/7 support and some even expected to be able to abuse the service (use multiple CPU cores) all for a price that does not allow for that.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to sell the business, but at least it's better than letting it die when you run out of motivation. Glad the deal was quite good for your end as well. Best of luck to holderhost and you, Sam! 🙂

Good luck with your future, Sam and the new Owner of the host! 🙂

Sam you did a great job building HolderHost. I look forward to see you next adventure.

Cheers! 😀 I really hope, because they're a hosting company, they will look after clients. I do have some pretty cool things planned including a redevelopment of my charity site thebookstore. Just need to magic up some time.

Sam,
I completely understand 100% with the statements above. I have been running USHost247 for a long time as well and I must say that everyone now days want everything handed to them for $1/month or less. There are so many abusers in the hosting industry that it's not funny. So many people try to abuse our servers, try to fraud us with chargebacks and refunds, try to hack our servers, etc.

I am glad you got it sold. If you ever need anything, hit me up on skype. 😉
