We are at the point we need to replace the windows but the cost is massive. We live by a road that is fairly noisy and also a house that never feels warm! Triple glazing is better for keeping the heat in but double glazing (good specialised stuff) is much better for the noise reduction. Not sure which we will go with?
I haven't, but we just got the house about 2 years ago. Windows weren't really a point of concern when we got it, other than replacing blinds and putting curtains up to filter out some of the light from outside. Probably not something we'll get replaced unless it becomes an issue any time soon because there's other home improvement and organization projects we've been working on instead that are a higher priority than aesthetic changes (other than painting walls, probably the only aesthetic change we've done lol).
To be fair both are good at heat retention in their own way, the triple glazing just adds another layer before it escapes, but they’ll at extra layer can be prone to rattle/shake with heavy traffic going by which I unfortunately have 🙁They might not have added insulation around the windows when installing them?
Never. But I figure in the future I might have to face this issue for myself one day. How much does it cost to replace a window?Have you ever replaced windows in your home? What brand did you get? Did you do inserts or full installs? What about price?

Damn, that's really high.I'm seeing in my area that to hire someone that the total cost could be $1,000 per window! ow

Windows are so costly, so if they're good enough, then just wait. I have one window that has a crack and I need to get it replaced, but we also need a new roof.
Yeah, just a quick Google showed me the average cost in my area was close to $1000, which is crazy. I'm not sure if it's something covered by the home warranty we have, but either way, it's one of those things right now that if it ain't broke, it ain't getting fixed.
I hope you can get your new window and roof soon though!
And then there are the doors...ugh. Home ownership is like a money pit at times, isn't it?
It really is!! I haven't even done much in the way of home improvement, mostly just painting rooms the color I want them to be, and I already feel like I've spent an absurd amount of money lol. And I've been thinking of even larger home improvement projects that I've had to tell myself "no, let's wait, let's maybe get life together and things organized a little better and decorated because you've been living in this house for almost 2 years, and you haven't even decorated the upstairs bathroom yet, let alone got the kitchen organized."
What brand did you go with and did you install them yourself or did you hire someone?Upgrading the doors and windows in your home can be a wise investment. I recently had my windows and doors replaced and the difference has been remarkable. Not only has it improved the overall appearance of my home, but I have also noticed a significant increase in energy efficiency. If you're considering making some home improvements, I highly recommend upgrading your doors and windows.
I'm no good at decorating!! If a bedroom has a bed and a dresser, boom, done.
Yes, WIndows were blown to the point that it has to be replaced, We had around 6 windows of different sizes that had to be replaced. Not to mention two that had led and a nice effect with them. Did end up costing allot, then again the results are good, we never did change the style or what kind of windows that are, just replace with the same once.
Just the double glaze windows, not the frame, In the UK we have different windows based on what you guys in the stats have..Did they do the pocket replacement, or did they do the full (the full is where they bring it to the studs)?
