Officials are trying to avert a mass exodus from the island that could lead to deaths at sea or a refugee crisis in South Florida.

So, it looks like the US is atleast trying to slow down how many illegals are in the US. Even though most probably would come for extra medical and maybe money to rebuild lives, I think that they should stay and try to rebuild their own lives without having to go to the U.S. for it.

What do you think about this?

In all honesty, who cares if they're illegals. They are hurt and in need food, water, medical supplies, and allot more. I read an article yesterday about how the Haitians are basically on their own with little help from the US.

This is a very sad and tragic day when an entire civilization feels abandoned, and the country that is supposed to be all glorious and helpful, the US, isn't sending choppers and medical supplies over there. In the same article I read, it said a chopper did drop supplies, but unfortunately, some of the citizens got greedy and used the supplies for them self, rather then a bunch of elderly people who actually needed it.

Actually, the US has sent the USS Carl Vinson and some 11,000 military personnel to the area.

It's a shame that such a powerful country would turn back people trying to flee complete devastation. It's probably going to be extremely hard to re-construct this country with all these people in the way without; food, water and shelter.

As for Canada I heard that the government is bending our immigration laws. Also, families that are Canadian will be allowed to shelter their other family that may not have a Canadian citizenship. Quebec will be "flooded" with Haitians considering we speak the same language. I'm fine with all these new laws, when I see the devastation in Haiti I would want a new place to live where I could have access to Medical help, food, water, and obviously shelter.

I'm positive the United States will re-consider what they previously said. 😉
