What do you think a homepage should have on it?

Depends on what the homepage is for. What genre is the site? Is it even a forum?

A promotion forum.. any really but mine's a promotion forum. 😛

Well, I would say no homepage at all. I mean, how often does FP's homepage get used? It may be a portal to the forum, but once the link is cached, I doubt many will pass it again.

However, if you do want one, something "similar" would be effective. You could have updates, twitter feed, affiliates and services on that page.
