I don't know where else to put this so it's going here.

Let's say i have a domain, fprules.info

And i am registering for a free hosting account with Web Hosting Fox
When registering, i get these options

I want Web Hosting Fox to register a new domain for me.

I want to transfer my domain to Web Hosting Fox

I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

I want to use a free subdomain.

Which one would i choose so i could just have their hosting, using fprules.info as the domain.

This may be obvious to you guys, but this would be my first time dealing with a domain like this, so i get confused and ask a lot of questions.

I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

If you plan to register elsewhere, but still want to demo use I want to use a free subdomain.

B is if you want to completely transfer it, which means you'll have to pay fees and such.

Then pick
I want to transfer my domain to Web Hosting Fox

It would cost less to just register the domain with Web Hosting Fox rather than pay for it somewhere else and have it transferred (it costs about $10 to transfer a domain).

You could. You would pick the last option, and then set up the domain as a "Parked Domain." If you wish to actually use the domain and the subdomain, you would set up the domain as a "Addon Domain." This is all after registration and once you get into the cPanel.

Hello there!

Are you trying to transfer the domain such as transferring from Godaddy to Web Hosting Fox ect? If you want to use your domain without transferring your domain you can use the name-servers
ns1.webhostingfox.com
ns2.webhostingfox.com
or you can also use a subdomain such as example.webhostingfox.com

Let's say i have a domain.. domain.info

Could i simply have the free hosting but then use my domain?

My god this topic is confusing for 1:20am. Let me explain

A) I want Web Hosting Fox to register a new domain for me.

Have you already registered/brought the domain? If no you can select this and buy you domain though them

B) I want to transfer my domain to Web Hosting Fox

Have you already brought/registered the domain through another site (godaddy/namecheap or somewhere else)? If you have brought your domain and then want to transfer it to Webhosting fox then select this option. That means that rather then paying godaddy or whoever to extend the domain, you will now pay Webhostingfox for the domain.

C) I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

Have you brought the domain? If yes then you can keep it with the current registrar (eg godaddy, namecheap or whoever) and just log into your account on the site you brought the domain and then just update the nameservers to the ones the host give you once you sign up.

D) I want to use a free subdomain.

If you don't have a domain and you don't want one select this option.
---------------------------------------
I would usually use option C when signing up and just change the nameservers of the domain to point to the new host and keep the domain somewhere separate from the hosting.

THank you Fowler. +rep like always for helping and being awesome.

Now i can proceed in getting a domain and a hosting account.

C is always the best option if you don't want to spend extra money, but at least have a domain. 🙂

If you have the domain at one place and want the webhosting at another place then choose "I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain."

Edit - Yay I forgot to read page two. I lose 🙁

Edit2 - Oh but I can add one thing. If you already have domains registered elsewhere and want to register a new one then register the new domain where the others are and just use nameservers to point it. Keeping domains consolidated in one place is a really good idea for down the road if you get a lot 🙂
