Right, so I have a friend who can provide me hosting, forever, for a one-off payment of $25 with these benefits:

- 1T Bandwidth
- 1T Disk Space
- CPanel Access
- Server Panel Access
- Close to 100% Uptime
- Free Setup

The only other thing running on the server is his website, http://coburndomain.net/.

I'm wondering if this is a good deal. Do any other hosts provide one-off payments? Is there anything else I should ask about?

Most hosts don't do one-off payments, nor would anyone who is smart.

I wouldn't do it if i were you, you can get a HawkHost account for $4 a month which would cater your need.

I would get a HawkHost account too. :great:

If only I have PayPal and my credit card.

I wouldn´t go for it, I think it would be a reseller which are very crap. I however suggest you go with hostgator, unlimited and brilliant.

Yep don't go for it, for a fact its a reseller unless this guy owns http://bounceweb.com/ which if you really use up that 1 TB he would boot you. and it depends on his plan there and if he has the biggest one about 75 GBs you can't even use half of a half of that TB

If it's your friend, at least it's direct support, hopefully.

By the way, in Server Panel, do you mean WHM (The root/reseller level of cPanel)?

One time payments = big no-no. People don't know how long they'll use you. Better to not do 1 time payments!

I agree with volux, annual is better then one time, they get all the money at once instead of it being divided in to 12 months. and they have funds to keep the server up, 25$ one time.....he may not last long

The whole reason I wanted 1-time was so I don't have to keep up with payments. :[ Baaah, I hate how misleading hosting can be.

Is bounceweb any good? They seem to provide a fair bit.

Here's what i saw on the net

a lot f problems with bounceweb.com DDOS attacks every second day, websites is getting shut down very often but customer service is perfect 30 tops to get help and one more thing at the beginning they give 1000mg upload size after 3 weeks they made it 784 and they'r saying unlimited space and bandwidth but i go 10 Gb space and 100 bandwidth, when I told them i need more space answer was that when ill be out of space i have to let them know.

Use this: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...bounceweb+reviews&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Yeah, after reading up on it, it seems kinda crap. I'm looking at FatCow now. They seem to be cheap and reliable.

That site, hosting sucks was actually recommending them. 4 out of 5 stars.

I went with IGXhost. Gonna be getting my forum on there hopefully within a week.

To answer the question, it doesn't seem like a good idea. Sooner or later, he will cave in and you may lose everything.
