My current host is absolutely atrocious, so I'm looking to move to a new one. Can anybody reccomend a good host?

Well, On-Shore hosting will be faster to you, than the rest of the world. Esp in New Zealand where our Internet is slow across the international fiber line. That's why I go for Off-shore hosting so people don't get that bottle neck.
