When you go away for a couple of nights somewhere and have a hotel booked what is most important to you?

For me being in a good central location is important but it also needs to be quiet so I can get a good sleep. It needs to be spotlessly clean and represent some level of value for money.

I’d much rather pay a little bit less and be a little further out from the central location if it means I can get a hotel that’s a bit nicer, has more amenities and better service.

How about you guys?

It needs to be clean and a decent price. My wife and I will be traveling to Chicago in a few weeks and we actually decided to book a hotel outside the city because it was way cheaper.

I usually stick with the Holiday Inn hotels because I've only had one or two that haven't been up to par. They're mostly the same, well lit parking, most have free breakfast, the room is clean with no bed bugs, and normally it's easy to get in and out of with the exits.

Oooh yay! Where at did you book? I used to work in Chicago and went to art school there many moons ago.

I've only stayed in hotels a handful of times, but amenities, location, and cleanliness are the big three for me. Especially cleanliness. I'll take a hotel that's a little bit further from my destination or doesn't quite have the amenities I want if it means I'm in a clean place during my stay.

When my husband was in the Army we would go on his weekends and stay in the same hotel. Loved it. Very clean and they knew him so they were always nice.

For me, it's all about cleanliness and amenities, especially with a free continental breakfast. Location doesn't bother me at all because I can sleep through anything and can adapt to my surroundings.

The biggest thing is it must be an ensuite. I will not book a room which use shared bathroom facilities.
