That is not true (both parts).

Google is considered buyable, and Facebook is too massive 😉

You are wrong sir/ma'am..

Do you have anything to back up this claim?
Everything has a price, to think otherwise is just ignorance. 😉

FWIW.... Facebook is on about 30,000 servers...
Google is on about 1,000,000 servers...

Google is king on the internet

You can't really compare Google and Facebook with each other. Google is publicly owned with many subsidiaries and Facebook is privately owned.

Google is a public business, Facebook is a private business. Google isn't just a site or a search engine anymore, it's an all round company which needs to be compared with other companies. So a better comparison would be Google and Microsoft, or Google and Walmart.

You have to compare Facebook with other private businesses/sites.

I agree that like comparing FP to Warriorforums ones bigger then the other

And how many servers is FP on?

Actually that's a much closer comparison
this site wouldn't be on more then one server 🙂

Seriously, Facebook is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being as big as Google.

And that will never happen. Ever.

Simple.

A social network vs. a company that is all around brilliant, there is no comparison.

But that's the point...you can't compare private to public. It's not a fair or even accurate comparison. If Facebook goes public, it will have the ability to purchase large assets, as did Google, so you may see Facebook get as big as Google. It has the potential to get as big as Google.

Who knows, zuckerberg said he goals only to make the world a more open and connected place.

Government and the CIA will never let anyone buy it anyways..

Facebook is another story then just a normal site.

Thanks

I read "Facebook" Facebook.com, http://www.Facebook.com and Facebook Login are in the top search term on Google : http://www.hitwise.com/us/about-us/pres ... -for-2011/

and Facebook App is one of the most downloaded App for Android, iOS, and Blackberry.

Facebook might get a lot of cell phone traffic compared to other top sites since people can quickly post their cell phone camera photos, videos, and messages on Facebook with their mobiles.

Facebook might not get the most traffic in the future, but they may get the most targeted traffic from people who are more web savvy, and know more about sharing, and discussing their favorite past times on social sites then search sites where some people just look for content, but does not always know how to post about content, or be part of a discussion on a forum or blog.

[this may have been said earlier, I have not read all 4 pages yet]

However, if you look at the history you will notice a trend. Friendster started a lot, but needed improving. Unfortunately, Myspace came in and did it for them, taking all of their heat. Myspace was bought out for something around $580 million by News Corp. They recently sold the website for around $40 million. This is of course because they needed improving and Facebook did it for them.
Now, although Facebook has an amazing standing and worldwide attention, you can see in the past that many have most likely thought the same before. Note: I have only used examples in the social networking area of businesses. You can see this happen elsewhere too.

However, if Facebook can maintain our interest as internet users, and constantly be ahead of everyone else, and improve before someone else does it for them then they will win.
It will be interesting to see how Google + goes. And, if Twitter were to slowly tweak their site into a more developed social networking site, you never know what could happen.

In theory Facebook could just keep on expanding, because I'm sure that Facebook has enough resources to keep updating servers for speed and constant access (aka no crashing).
-I also agree that I'm sure they have a price now, but if it is ever sold that price will be much lower than what it is now. They definitely will not sell it unless it's going downhill quickly.

As far as websites like the ones we run, they can expand a lot, though often more slowly. A forum like this one, or many others relies on users posting, which is easy, but harder than uploading a picture or updating a status. It makes people put time into writing.
However, if you just look at this site, I was here for the 500k mark in posts, and now we're coming up on 900k. That's remarkable.
