How can I get members to join my new forum?

Hey everyone.

I've always been interested in hacking iPhones ever since I learnt the word "jailbreak". One of my life ambitions before I have to leave home and start my own life was to design my own iPhone hacking forum (don't ask me why...coz I dunno, it's just something I've always wanted to do).

But I am stuck at one very big problem...I can't get anyone to join. Some people have visited my forum as a guest and have left me quite nice feedback, whereas others don't like it at all. Obviously I won't be able to please everyone out there, I can't expect that. But what I would like to know is how I can make people join (and stay loyal to) my new forum.

This is my first website, I am very amateur when it comes to web coding, etc. I keep looking at all these wonderful forums with their amazing styles and keep thinking "WoW! How did you manage to do that?".

I may be only a beginner, but I've always wanted to do something like this and the only way I feel I can learn is to actually try it out.

So, I've designed a (very) basic forum. -

It's entitled iPhoneCrack-NG (a bit like AirCrack-NG).

Could someone please tell me how I can attract those initial members. Once I've got just a few members I will hopefully be able to get more from there. Also if someone out there would be willing to help me with some styles (as I am useless, absolutely useless, with Photoshop), I would be most grateful. 😀

The problem is a large part where you can advertise the amount of people that are on those sites are not interested in such a site. However maybe on other illegal places they love to join, mouth to mouth talking also helps.

Joining forums that are about the same as your own forum and mass posting there with a link in your signature to your own forum.

Not "everyone" has an Iphone. Try advertising on places where allowed like phone forums, technology ones etc..

I'm assuming that the "DISCUSSION FORUMS" category is where the main content and activity of your site will be. Yet, look how far this content is down on your page. Move it up, so that visitors can see your content without scrolling.

Try doing some post exchanges so that your forum will be more active, the more active you are, the more likely visitors are to join and become active themselves.

promote it! give away free stuff for members with x amount of posts , actively display your offers around teh interwebz.
