ive been posting everyday for a year and a half and have 500 to 1000 EVERYDAY on my site, 80% of which are unique visitors and i have 2 members that come on once in awhile. what can i do to have people want to join and be a part of my community. i dont want to do contests, what are some things that mite make want people to join. theyre all coming from other forums so they are people who want to talk to other people and post, all my traffic comes from The Internet Movie Database which is a forum. people love to talk about celebs, what theyre wearing or whatever, ive been visiting sites for years and theres tons of people.

What you must do is first that you change you board to phpbb or something like that because most of the hate pro-boards! Then you must keep certain pictures to public view, and then some must be put only to member view. Then put some to exclusive member view where only active members are allowed to view

I would join but I hate the theme. =/ It's too small, plus the boxes scare me a little. Plus why is there so much room right at the bottom? (Not sure if an ad is supposed to be there so clear me up if there is - got adblocker) And you need a domain name. 🙂

Why are the recent replies on the left, and the forum names on the right? Also using a proboards forum wont really help you.. I hate them and I never join them unless its someone I like that owns it. Your forum looks very weird and strange... you should move.

I'm only trying to help 🙂 But keep doing the way you're going with the forum. You're doing a good job if you can't accept feedback to improve the forum.
Then you just X'd out about 90% of people who would have replied.
"Your forum is the best" is that what you want everyone to say? Obviously somethings not working, since you posted this issue, so you better get ready for members to give feedback, positive or negative.

I don't help people who can't take feedback into consideration. Why are you even running a forum if you don't take feedback of all kinds? That's part of being a good administrator is hearing out all kinds of feedback.

There's nothing wrong with a Proboards if it's done correctly. I started a board in mid January of this year using Proboards. I thought it looked great with the help of http://interoceandesigns.proboards.com/index.cgi graphic designs team (in fact they they did the Sony border for my new phpBB3 board for my light style and the head / base image used in my 2nd style - you can choose between them from the portal). They have one of the best looking boards out there, no matter the software. Anyway, I moved at the end of October after being with Proboards for about 9 months, in that time frame about 669 people joined my board (no post exchanges). Not that it's not great to be in phpBB3, since I've been there a little over a month, a little more than 100 more members has joined my board since then. Do Proboards have it's negatives, yes (the fact you don't have database access is major). The positive, the support staff answers every thread (a better support for a free forum software you will never find).
Now with that said. Proboards cost a lot for me to make it successful, a unique domain (when I moved, even though Proboards deleted my board for TOS violation, I've never used the .proboards). It look more professional if you have a domain name. Also I paid them $7.99 to $16 each month for the 9 months I was there to ad free board (that's why I had to move, Proboards was really expensive once I did reaserch compare to a shared server with database access). Anyway, what I'm trying to say and what others have said on this board, clean up your style a little bit and get a unique domain name to start. :great:
