I have a lot of trouble getting people to join my Content Team on LevelUnlocked. People don't seem to want to join the team for some reason, and the people that do join don't stick around for that long (besides my personal friends).

How can I get people to join the team?

Rather than trying to get people to join a team, why not just encourage them to write one guest post for your blog and offer them the opportunity to include a link back to their site in the post? That way you get a variety of writers and people are more likely to submit one post than to commit to providing them on an ongoing basis. Lots of site owners and bloggers are happy to contribute something, in return for including a link back to their site.

Well are you giving them incentives to make blog posts or are they working for free because maybe that is something you could look at doing from now on? Try offering them game vouchers or maybe PSN Points/Microsoft points. 🙂

That's a good idea, thanks. I was trying not to spend money as the site doesn't generate income but I guess I'll have to.

Offering real cash based awards is a pretty slippery slope. I mean PSN cards/MS points (as far as I know, baring in mind I don't have an Xbox360, only a PS3...) only come in minimum 20$ increments so those can add up quickly to being expensive. (Depending on the rate at which you pay out. I mean how many articles would be a fair trade for a 20$ PSN card? 10? 15? And what about quality? I mean if people are writing terrible quality articles should they still get rewarded?)

Plus once you start doing this, it's difficult to abandon this and still get people writing for you. (Plus if you have people who aren't getting rewards and who are writing for you, they may either stop writing, slow down writing or ask for rewards too.)

Overall, I think it'd be a better idea to try allowing people to link to their own sites in exchange. (That's something I'd consider doing if I were allowed to link to my own site.)

I think that you could also offer them rewards like getting a backlink in their author/bio box and elsewhere so other iwebmasters who are interested in gaming are motivated to join. And about current team members not sticking around - show them what writing on your site can bring for them and offer your help and advice if they need help or have questions.

Thanks for the help. I may use some suggestions. Anyone else?
