Hey guys,

How did you discover ProBoards? What has kept you using it? Have you tried any other types of software/hosts?

When I was 12 or 13, I would use the official Sims 2 Bulletin Boards (not PB) to download new lots and custom content. There was a section where fansites could advertise, and one that caught my attention happened to be hosted on ProBoards. I joined and made friends there, and eventually ended up on ProBoards Support and Slightly Insane where I made more friends. This was ca. 2007.

Then I got into making themes. Then I got into making themes for other people. After a while, I got pretty good at that and settled into a nice little niche as a theme maker and coder. I like helping people and having unique knowledge, so that's the biggest reason I stick around. It's not profitable or anything, just a hobby.

I've tried vBulletin, phpBB, MyBB, Vanilla, and some others. But never really found the same sense of community that I feel on PB.

I didn't know that you were part of the Slightly Insane scene! That used to be the place where everyone got their premade styles back before V5. I loved Smangii's aQuatic style. I remember Slightly Insane being closed for a little while and then randomly reopening again.

Oh god I think I found it through my Jedi Knight 3 clan's forum back in 2004! That was a LONG time ago!

I discovered it when I was invited to administrate a forum run on it back when it had turned to v4.

I like the software but the people that run it are horrible.

I don't use it any more since they deleted my forum with no warning or reason and kept banning me when I asked for an explanation.

Them deleting my forum set it on a course for failure unfortunately. Lost so many members due to the deletion.
