For me its to retain traffic to my poultry based website, and hopefully build a long term community.

next...

I used to be a moderator on a site www.2sgforum.co.uk but it went down and died.
So me and another member of the site made a new one based on the same thing and we've just tried to keep likeminded things alive.

It's unbelievable how damn addicted forums can be, but i strive to make mine at least half as big as 2sg, in its day it was the biggest music based forum in the world which is really something.

Damn! Need to find a similar level designer to get mine running in line with my homepage!

I'll help out if you want?
Since i'm gonna be helping you get it active too, haha.

Definately - Communities are the way forward in my opinion, alot of forums, this one included are full of knowledge from different people - a forum allows people to bring it all together in one place

I started getting into forum creation because I wanted to have my own community under a certain topic and also wanted power over that community--fair power, of course. Sadly, as time flies, my forums I try to keep alive die very, very quickly. Wish I knew what I was doing wrong... :?

Whats the url, be interested to check it out.

Forums do die quickly if their not maintained, although once they are up to a certain point, they grow organically.

Well, I started my first faction back in 1999 on Gamefaqs.com which lasted for five years. Afterwords, I disbanded and started my own to have more freedom from the strict mods there and finally make my forum to what I really wanted it originally. (I use Proboards btw) -happy-

I remember coming across FP and really ever since I have been here I have been creating forums.

I started on a forum for RuneScape two years ago. I then learned of a forum suiting my newest sensation - Halo - and registered on ForgeHub. I decided I wanted to make my own machinimas (movies filmed in video games) and so I decided to start my forum for when my shows get popular.

When I younger I was a member on the old Nintendo Forums, and another member and I started a forum just to be cool and see if we could out do the offical Nintedo site. Needless to say, we failed. (I still have that site, hosted with InvisionFree and always will) After that I was banned from all internet for a few years, after words when I showed back up my co-admin had moved on, Nintendo Forums closed, and I was left without anything. I met up with my current best friends through Animal Crossing Wild World and Gamefaqs.com. I started a few forums based off ACWW, then moved on to coding (web coding) which is where I learn most, if not all of the html I know. After that I moved to general forums and thats when the first version of Chat Topia started, and I really got into forums full time. I joined up at DA (Direct Advertisment) to advertise and was banned (looooong story...). Once I got paid hosting for Chat Topia I decided I needed a new place to advertise on, and so after some googling I ended up here. After awhile as a normal member I was selected for the package team because they were short staff. I agreed and several hundred posts later here I stand, forum addicted.
