Hello @mizojhay
Would you mind telling us more about your project? This will make it easier for us to give you ideas and assistance. 🙂

in the meanwhile here are a few standard tips when starting out. I apologize if you have covered this already, like I said before, it is a bit on the dark since we don't know your community.

* Get rid of the default skin and make sure you have at least a few threads in each section. Zero-post areas and default skins give an unfinished look and might cause people to assume the owner is not invested or desiring to have the community for the long term.

* Try to engage with the people that is already there by quoting them, using their nicks in your posts and asking some follow-up questions to what they are talking about.

* generate content and keep spreading the voice and encouraging your members to do the same. Having people vouching for your community is pretty a good way to entice other people to check you out. I know I am more likely to join when a friend recommends me that if I just stumble on my own.

Also, have you checked out our Community Reviews zone? In there you can create a thread and members can review and give you direct feedback about your community. It is a good way to know where you stand and get some pointers. You can also request our Review and Questionnaire services in exchange of FP$. It might be worth a look.

I want it to be web related, where people can get answers to web related questions like hosting, web designs e.t.c., though its open for other topics.

Some new innovative ideas to keep members engaged in conversation and make they come back again and again. New visitors can be generated by extensive promotions.
