So basically I'm a global moderator for a forum that we're trying to get off the ground. There are 2 other moderators that aren't really active on the forum so I can't ask them for help. And the admin is currently away from the Internet for a while (I was told this some time ago) and my only means of contact with him is via the Internet so it may take some time for him to get back to me. Except that I really cannot wait that long as I feel that I have to do something about this member's posts so thought that I would get some advice off you guys.

I'm helping to run a community forum for Wakefield, West Yorkshire so the idea is that if you post on there then it has to have something to do with Wakefield. This member has posted about 4 times and yet when I checked out their Twitter it says that they are based in Suffolk, UK. The problem is whether or not this counts as spam and if it does then what (if anything) do I do about it? It seems that admin and I never discussed what to do if spam occurs so I'm at a total loss as to what I should do.

You can view the member's posts here
And can I just point out that admin and I already discussed double posting, which he doesn't have any objections about so I'm just going along with that.

Hello there.

To me that member looks like an advertising bot. From 4 posts, 2 are identical and he left a link to the same page of another website. I'm not sure of the geographical thing, but if it really is not related to your forum then just delete it. Meanwhile I suppose you can leave his introduction and sport thread (though you need to rename that sport thread, seriously, it kind of annoys me, LOL~).

Hope this helps. 🙂

Thank you both for replying.

I will take your advice phio_chan.

Okay, glad to hear that. Good luck with your job and the forum too. 😀

Thank you 🙂
It has been sorted now.

I agree with Phio_Chan. But also, when the admin comes back, just give them a heads up as to what happened, so they are aware of it.

Good point. I will let admin know when he returns from his holiday.
Just hope that I did the right thing 😕

There are a few programs that eliminate spam, but I'm not exactly sure how they work. You can always delete the posts, but do you have the ability to ban IP addresses? If it's the same person even one using multiple accounts this may e the best way to deal with your problem.

If not, I would keep trying to contact your admin and perhaps they can edit some options or implement new security.

Good luck!

I woke up this morning to find 2 more spam posts on the forum by this member so have taken your advice and banned the IP address.
