How do I set up a member website...

Hey,

I was wondering how I would set up a members website where they can submit their own stuff. Examples of this is DeviantART and Lost Zombies.

I don't know where to begin!

I also just installed Joomla, but i'm new and I don't really understand it much... lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
