How do you define trolling?

How do you clearly define what is trolling?

I suspect we have A LOT of members who disagree on this and I would like to see their points of views. But I'll add a small twist into this... Can you define trolling without any double standards?

Trolling is when someone causes trouble on a forum by bullying and taking advantage of people (even innocent ones). That's what I think although I could've thought up of a better definition than that. I think this'll do for now.

Trolling is a vast enterprise. It can be as horrid as posting pictures of disfigured corpses to intentionally using "a" instead of "an" to irritate grammar crazy folks. In reality trolling is anything someone does intentionally to get a rise out of people. It can be a big, elaborate gesture or a small, hardly noticeable one. As someone with a decent amount of experience in trolling people, I can tell you some of the best trolls are the smaller ones. For example, someone once made a thread about trolling on another forum I went to, and pretended they were a professional troll and spoke very pompously about himself. I caught on to the troll, and posted in a pseudo rage claiming he couldn't be a good troll because he lacked grammar skills and "an real troll" would know that grammar was key. Now of course everyone jumped all over the "an" mistake telling me I was being a hypocrite and that I failed epicly, but the good trolls all gave me +rep for derailing the OP like that.

Seriously, though, I define trolling simply as being a jackass. I don't really care if something is called "trolling" or not, though; if you're being a jackass, then that's what you're being, and it doesn't really matter what label we assign to it.

I've been trolled before. This some person kept impersonating me with a username "infernfuck" and making fun of my bad grammar, and making people think that was me. The avatar of infernfuck was a porn image. And the owners of the Forum I was on allowed it. So I left the Forum. About 2 months later when I had my own Forum, this person comes back and starts spamming it with porn. I Ip ban him but somehow he changes his IP and comes right back. Then he got somebody to hack my Forum, and it was over.

That was ages ago. These days, he doesn't troll me anymore, can't really say hes my friend, but sometimes he plays Mario Kart Wii with me.
