I have been on forums where their owners are a little bit too laid back with the way they run and manage their community. They barely do anything on the forum's homepage like commenting or creating new topics. There are times when they are offline for weeks without any update they are going to be away for a while.

How do you usually feel about these kind of forum owners and using their service?

I understand when people have full-time jobs and can't always be around, but it literally takes 15 minutes a day to log in and make your presence known. I wish my owners would be dedicated.

If the owner isn't active, that tells me a lot about their commitment level to the forum. I'm typically not interested in being around those types of places, just due to the fact that staff (including the owner) should always be driving the community. If they're not interested in doing that, they probably aren't truly interested in the forum anyway.

inactive forum owners can be anything or means that or maybe that person is busty with life or has problems, doesn't mean he's fed-up with the site and not interested anymore, we all dislike seeing very inactive forum owners. by any means.

just can't judge right away by looking at the first covers of a book

I'm trying to be more interactive on mine. I can see why ignoring the forum, but asking others to work is unpleasant. However, though, if nobody is working on the forum, it's not a big deal, but my interaction is a good thing anyway.

When forum owners aren’t active on their own forum, it’s a sign that they’re not serious about their community.

However, some may be taking a break, but a prolonged absense without a sign of coming back means the owner isn’t coming back and eventually the community will fall off the wayside.

It doesn't look good if the owner isn't around. They should log in just for at least 20 minutes or so and make some posts to keep activity going. It shows that they care about their community. It's one thing if they're sick and can't log in for a day or so but if it's going on for weeks it shows they probably abandoned the community.

If they can't be bothered to be active, then neither can I.

This is also my stand. I want to get active on a forum where the admin is very active. You can't say you are building a community when you end up being active on a couple of occasions. It does not work that way for me.
