Has a client ever not paid you for graphic work you've done? How did you handle it?

I remember my former brother-in-law came to me saying his friend owned a Construction company and would pay me $100 for a logo to be designed. I agreed but did not get anything in writing (bad) and once I handed off the work I never saw the money. My brother-in-law kept promising it to me but never did anything about it. I refuse to not work without a contract ever again if I'm charging money. Without a contract I couldn't even go to small claims court because I had no proof of agreement of terms.

I get half up front and half after no matter what. That way it's safe for both parties, slightly. I show them the final work with a overlay over it. So if they did steal it it'll be harder for them to edit as well as I at least get half the money for it. I've only had it happen a few times luckily so it's not something that happens a lot but if they do refuse to pay I still get half the payment and I don't give them the final product 🙂

You have a really solid method!

I had a graphic designer who I found once that was good, well I thought he was good. Requested work and he wanted half the payment upfront. About two weeks later he then sent me a preview, after I messaged him saying it's been so long and already was not happy. Previews were like 5mins worth.

Did not like it, and got him to do another, Soon after he sent me a message saying that he wants the other half of the payment. Went back and forth saying about it, and saying NOPE. He's was just BS me around saying he has no money and he needed it for this and that and I'm like do you have other clients and he said yes and it goes on and on to the point that we are talking about money more than the work that I wanted. After a while, I stuck on him and said I want a fully remove you and refund.

Never got my money back, he removed me on Discord and Twitter and his fake website. Lost $40

Well, I don't do graphic work so I've never had a "no pay" before.

On the flip side, I've never not paid someone for graphics they made for me. I've always made sure we agreed to the terms before they make the graphics for me.

A client never paid me my $44 for work completed for him on Seoclerks and he got away with it.

Shocking, that's one thing about Fiverr that do like, you have to pay up before you are they do the work.
