How do you handle bad feedback?

Just take it with a pinch of salt at times. I can take the bad reviews as they are being positive and respectful and they are saying it regards being helpful. I dislike bad reviews from those that are being disrespectful and if they are then I don't take it in.

Most of the bad reviews are not bad anyway, in fact, they are people saying the truth and saying what they think about, and they are more helpful than anything else 🙂

As long as the person giving the feedback isn't being rude I would use it as a guide to improve my site. Honesty goes a long way and you can be honest without being rude.

It depends on the person. There's some members out there who want to complain about everything. I consider the source.
If it's from a trusted person, I try to see what I can do to go about changing my forum & the way it's going.

It really depends.

If the feedback is factual or could be used to improve something, then I value it as an improvement resource.

For example, I was getting a lot of politely negative feedback about previous videos on my YouTube being too shaky to watch all the way through. I upgraded my kit to a camera with excellent built-in stabilization and the negative feedback then became positive. Since then, watch time has significantly got better and people stay on the video longer.

However, every now and then people send bad comments at me for inviting tourists to our National Forest. They say it invites bad people and that I shouldn't do what I am doing. That is understandable feedback because these local are scared of the publicity the forest could get. We see how massive groups destroy National Parks, so it is a fearful idea. But I also preach a lot of responsible recreation and Leave No Trace in my videos and content. I do feel tourism for our area is good for our economic boost. I'm a board member of different conversation and tourism boards where I see factual data to back my opinions up. So again, I understand that feedback but I might not use it.

For negative feedback that is nothing more than trolling. I delete and block immediately. I clean up my video comments. Some leave them. I don't. I block those people now so that I don't have to see them in the future. I honesty think that is the best practice.

If Im the admin on form id warn first and then ban

But maybe 2 warn if its not bad

I'm always open to hearing feedback good or bad. In my view negative feedback should always be listen to, especially if the objective is to suggest improvement. If the feedback amounts to abuse from an angry troll I still might want to interact and find the root cause of their hate and loathing.

Unless the feedback is very rude, uses profane language, and contains too much negative thoughts, I view feedback very positively. If the feedback are genuine, I make sure to imlement on my forum and blog.

Any kind of feedback whether it be bad or good is always something that I take into consideration as long as it's done politely and not in a rude, obnoxious kind of way. There have been many times that I have had bad feedback and I have looked into it and made the changes needed to make things better and many members have been happy with being listened to and seeing the changes made.

Going to submit a long reply here.

In this age of technology, everyone is accessible to everyone else. As a result, people are always aware of the work others produce. This can be a good thing as it helps the world progress as a whole. However, it can be a bad thing if people take pleasure in tearing others down. Whether someone is young or old, all are susceptible to negative feedback. Anyone who denies this is deluding themselves. Most people love receiving honest feedback from others.

Unfortunately, some people take pleasure in providing less than stellar reviews to others. They do this out of spite or because they're jealous- whichever reason they have. They also hide behind fake names to try to intimidate their targets into submission.

This is unacceptable and should be called out as such. It's good to understand what your critics think is wrong with your work. It helps you fix any issues you're having and identify what changes you need to make in order to succeed. It's also good to understand what your fans like about your work. From there, you can tailor your work to suit the needs of those who have shown an interest in it.

If they ignore that feedback, they lose credibility fast. Handling negative feedback is important no matter what your age is. People need to feel safe sharing their opinions with you without fear of retribution. Plus, understanding what your fans think is good about your work helps you create more of it for them to enjoy. Ultimately, if you refuse to connect with the masses, you'll never become successful- so be aware of what your fans want and give it to them!

I've always taken on feedback and will always share the feedback with staff if it's from a review service.

I'll try and listen and assess the feedback at first, but if it's just bashing the forum then it's clearly not constructive criticism and will be taken with a grain of salt. Negative feedback doesn't always mean having a negative outlook on something, it can just be a means of feedback for improvement.

I like to differentiate between "external" and "internal" feedback.

"Internal" feedback comes from people who are already members of your community. Most of this feedback is well-intentioned and intended to improve the forum for other members of your community. In this case, it's best to have a discussion and decide if something needs to change.

"External" feedback is feedback that people give you on other sites or feedback from randoms who join your site just to give "feedback." When you run a small community, much of the external feedback received will be from bad actors who just want to crush your self-esteem. Many of them boost their own egos by crushing the "noobs."
