When you earn money from your website, do you normally try to reinvest it into your forum, or do you pocket the profits? If you're a fan of reinvesting, what do you use that money for?

Any money I get via my forum will go back into the forum, either for domain or service renewal, contest prizes, etc.

I've never made any profits, so it has all gone back into the forum. I think if I ever ended up making substantial profits, I would only pocket about 25%.

Why that percentage?

Most profits should always go back into the site/community, but I'd like to keep some if ever the profits became substantial, because of the thousands I've put into the forum over the years.

I normally split it into 3. 1/3 of it goes to the forum, 1/3 of it goes into my pocket and 1/3 of it goes into other new online projects.

I normally invest the money into the forum for development, competitions and advertising.

I usually keep a portion of the profit in my pockets and re-invest the major half to grow my business more. This allows me to double my profit in a shorter time and with recurring amount.

I keep a balance and save it for whenever I want to spend money on advertising. However, revenues have always been low, so nothing has ever been spent.

I'm a owner of a revenue-sharing site which pay in Bitcoin. It just started last week and I already spent around 0.03 Bitcoin advertising it on several Bitcoin advertising networks. I got decent results for the past few days. My members base keep on growing everyday. However, since it's revenue sharing and I only take ~10% of the total revenue, it will take me around 3 months before I can get back my money from advertising. Not to mention I will keep on spending Bitcoin to get my website known to others. Also, the hosting and domain can cost up to > 40 USD next year. Bought a small hosting plan from Namecheap for 7 USD for a year. Renewal price will be a whooping 39.99 USD next year. I dont think I will break-profit within the next six month. However, it all really depend on how I advertise my site.
