How do you stop spam on your forum?

With vBulletin there are a lot of plug-ins to use which really help a lot. I currently use two plug-ins just to be safe, along with email verification.

For my MyBB powered forum I use Registration Security Questions and reCAPTCHA and the two combined get the job done... I hardly ever have any spam on my forum.

I used to get A LOT of spam until I added this vB spam protection..it's so funny. I can look at what "guests" are doing and it either says that they are registering and viewing an error message (because of the protection I use) or they are trying to reply to a thread and getting an error. Makes me laugh!

Using the StopForumSpam database in various plugins has really helped me combat spam in the past. Highly recommended.

Lots of bots can easily get passed that. Be prepared.

And not necessarily bots..but people are payed to fill those things out you know.

We use security questions. CAPTCHA did nothing for us except frustrate people trying to register. Security questions solved our spam woes!

We havn't even been up for one week.

My forum software is faster then any other one on the market today. and I have 10x more features. You're talking nonsense.

Google uses recaptcha also, so you should go say google is not a "top Contender"

Why would I take it elsewhere when you instigated it?

What's the difference between a forum using it or google? Both platforms have a registration system. Do you think recaptcha is bad? If so, I respect your opinion, but you have no right to insult my forum software just because I use Recaptcha.

Yeah that can work. I just don't like when they pay people to fill those things out..then you're screwed! 🙁
