I attempted to place more ads on the forum. :lol: Yeah, didn't work out. I also tried adding internal ads from members, so they can pay for an ad or something, and that kind of worked. I think it became more of a hassle than anything, though.
I think adsense is the best way to increase your website revenue. Selling ads spaces with external services like BuySell ads or direct ones are much more beneficial to generate revenue for your website.
With ads on the site/forum, to help pay for expenses of running both. Members have an option to have them removed, although they're not much of a bother.
I try different ad spots if they aren't working well (using Adsense). They are doing o.k. right now. Right now I am pretty opposed to in thread ads or linked text ads so won't be doing them anytime soon. 😛
Adsense may just can pay the bill for expenses. Members do not like the ads, but they also do not like to pay. Who willing to pay, want the ads be their for them.
To me this is simple. Continue to grow, continue to perfect your SEO on and off site, Promote on related niche, advertise on social media. All of this leads to better ranking to get more steady organic search traffic. Once you're getting a decent amount of traffic I would tinker with ad placement to see which are most effective and which ones are not.
