How do you get staff for your forum as I need more staff for mine.

If you can find someone who you know you can trust. Or at least, you know they won't wreck the forum (be 100% sure!), make them a moderator. Sometimes, just the presence of a moderator can scare away any potential spammers or threats to the "health" of your forum, even if the moderators don't actually ever do anything.

I've got 3 admin staff on mine. We were all admins on another forum so know each other quite well.

As for Mods.... I haven't got any yet as membership is too small to warrant having them.... but, on the other forum we invited people to become Mods or supermods who were very active, posted alot and had a decent knowledge base of the subject your forum is about.

Personally I'd be reluctant to just have anybody because of the access they have. I'd want to know I could trust them before giving them responsibility.... but thats just my personal view.

Yes is pretty much has to be someone you know & trust. Or sometimes you learn the hard way, you just have to hope the person will be. I'm lucky, I have mt daughter as admin along with me, so maybe a relative?

Personally I'd be verfy careful just having anybody as staff on the forum ~ as parabellum said ~ a bad admin/mod can destroy your site.

Which I can attest to... a fking bastard of an admin I had wiped the entire contents of my server for NO reason whatsoever!

ooooo ~ Nasty~ thats why you have to be soooo careful appointing staff and getting people you can trust.

I had that happen once when I appointed some a MOD,..they destroyed the entire area they were in charge of and I had to redo the entire thing..Thats why now on new forum I am the only one with root admin access.

I only use people i know who are responsible and wont mess up any forum in any way. Usually the same people i know from other forums -happy-

I've been really lucky with my mods they've all been on the ball, friendly and helpful. My current mod I befriended on another board we were both on and got to know him quite well as a person. I wouldn't risk having anyone else with admin capabilities (plus I'm quite particular about things so it's better if I do them myself) but having mods or helpers of some sort is very useful for things other than simply moderating; I've found it especially helpful to have someone help test new board features.

Only use people you know and trust to be moderators. If you can get by with being the only admin, do so, but if you need another admin to assist you, make sure 100% you can trust them. Otherwise only appoint people as moderators, that way if you are wrong about them, they can't bring down the entire site.

My forum (Envy) has 2 admins as well as 3 staff team members. If someone starts trolling or making other attempts someone will notice and take action quickly. In the event that a staff team member notices before an administrator does they will escalate certain issues to an administrator (automatically posted spam, only the admins can modify filters).

you may try to get more staff by trying to find good people who may volunteer for your forum's staff in this community for e.g. or any other good forum community, a good forum is formed by a good community. Goodluck!

Moved to a better suited forum. 🙂

Normally I find staff by member recommendation, advertisement topics, and inviting members that we think would be good candidates to apply. I find that there's more turnover when using advertising topics on other forums as the applicants usually just want the position and not the commitment.
