hi guys, I had this problem recently, i had to change my servers so i backed up my site with backup wizard i chosed full backup but when i tried to restore it on another server i realized that i had to do it one by one, i mean the three options were home directory, mysql and email.

So that didnt work out the way i planned it, now i need to know how it works so if any experienced member explain to me i will really appriciate it.

Thanx

Some information that would help us help you;

Which Control Panel software are you using?

Are both servers running the same software?

I have access to a copy of DA and a copy or two of CPanel, so hopefully I can help you through it. Basically you'll end up restoring the FTP files, MySQL database through phpMyAdmin, and if you're using CPanel (I suspect you are) then restoring email setup is also possible.

I am using Cpanel now, and I'll may move to a new host pretty soon, so can you please explain how to download the full backup(full or one by one) so i can restore it to another host.

Alright. Many of my clients have also asked me this question.

Only WHM can use a "Full Backup". WHM is used by the hosting website that is hosting your account. Therefore, you can not use it for personal use.

You will need to download the "home" directory and then click on each individual database to get a backup of each one. Then to restore them on the new host, just go to "backups" tab and then restore each database with the one you downloaded and then upload your home directory and you are good to go.

To download backups: Go to cpanel>backups>download home directory

Databases: Click the database you want and it will pop up and ask you if you want to save the file. Just click yes.

thank you so much mate, btw whats the differece between backups and backup wizard? they are two seprate options in the cpanel right?

The backup wizard guides you through it a bit more while the backup page just gives you all the options on 1 page and it is not as user friendly.
