It used to be that movies would "suggest" certain things such as sexual actions or brutality/killings. Today, moviemakers want you to see it all. How graphic do you like movies to be?

I like to see a bit of blood. But I don't like it to be overly gory and sadistic. Don't care much for sex scenes. Big no on rape scenes, which in my opinion should be banned. With action and sci fi movies, I want a good story to go along with it. That's what makes a good film such as Aliens, Universal Soldier, Terminator 2 Judgment Day, Fury, Elysium, Gladiator, Highlander, etc.

Depends on the movie. If the movie is like "The Crow" then I would expect some shoting and blood. But, if the movie is more like schindler's list, then I want slow action, more dialogue oriented.

I don't really think people like graphic scenes for the sake of it being graphic, but rather that they like it when it is called for. Blood, gore and sex can be an excellent remedy when called for.

Really depends on the movie and the type of genre it is. Obviously a horror movie I’m fine with seeing blood, gore, and such, but it depends on the type of mood I’m in. Graphic is fine at times, but not for everyone.

Honestly I don't mind a movie to be graphic. Of course I wouldn't watch these types of movies when they're children present, but my spouse and I don't have kids so we don't have to worry about that. There were movies I seen as a kid I probably shouldn't have, such as Hellraiser. That's a film that no child should see, yet my parents let me watch it. :\ Perhaps that's why gore doesn't really bother me much.

as long as it fits and I love it then all good with me

We went though a phase during the 80s mainly courtesy of the (UK) Video Recording Act 1984 where censorship became a joke. In short it created a huge demand for B movie gore that most people wouldn't normally bother with. It also resulted in unwarranted cuts to many outstanding films, some of which have only recently been restored to the director's vision.

The US had a similar issue with music during the same period with the Tipper Gore's PMRC.

In both cases it created an absurdity, making the proponents of censorship to look very foolish indeed. The opposing witness statements made during the infamous PMRC senate hearings are essential reading for anyone in favour for censorship of the arts.

Films, music, art, even video games have an effect on people. If they didn't we wouldn't engage with them. Violent, gory films are no exception. The real question is are they damaging to society and the answer in my opinion is no, not for the overwhelming majority of right minded people.

I want to be moved when I watch a film or listen to music and I have no problem being shocked by violence if it moves the story along. It it's gore for the sake of gore like the B movies we banned all those years ago, the chances are I wouldn't be watching them in the first place.

It's not that I don't like other movies where everything is calm and all but as an adult, there are things I crave to see in movies. I love action and that gets well merged with romance and sex. Depending on the kind of movie, I would love horror in it and that comes with much killing, sex and blood.

I'm too much a soft kid from the inside😆 but dont mind it just not too Anything extrema

I don't mind movies being somewhat graphic but I find in most cases now they tend to go all out on the graphics and it can be a little too much for me.

I can understand why they may want to do that in say a horror movie.

Life isn't sugarcoated. In theory, I don't want my art to be sugarcoated either. Of course, everything should be par for the course. If I am watching a children's film, I don't expect people to be beheaded, but if I am watching Game of Thrones, I understand that it is the type of series that likes to highlight the ugliness of its world.

When I was younger I used to find gorey films hilarious but now that I've grown up they just tend to gross me out more than anything

It depends on the movie, but yes, "I want to see it all, blood, guts, gore, sex..."

I’ll vote down the middle. I really don’t care to see anything too grotesque. I typically look away during the particularly gruesome scenes, especially when I’m watching a scary movie. 😛
