Do you give much value to ranking near the top of Google? How important are search engine rankings to you?

They are pretty important to me, as search engines generate the bulk of my new visitors for all of my websites, including my real life construction business and my 2 communities.

If your site doesn’t feature high up on the rankings list, the chances of your site being seen by someone searching your genre decreases so I’d say the ranking is quite important. Think about it yourself when you search for something, how often do you find yourself scrolling to the bottom of the Google page or looking on page 2 or 3 of the results?

Your search engine rankings are crucial for visibility and attracting potential customers online. They determine where your website appears in search results, impacting the amount of organic traffic you receive. With the help of a [link removed] optimizing your search engine rankings becomes essential for increasing online presence, attracting leads, and ultimately driving business growth.

Pretty important even though I haven't made it big with Google yet. I'm hoping it won't be much longer since were nearing 15,000 posts.

I think it is really important because it brings visitors to your forum that never knew that it existed.

I have always been big on SEO & organic search / visitors.
To me it's also a metric on quality & usefulness. For example, some things that affect SEO rankings: time spent on site by users, relative content, quality writing, etc. If you are ranking high (and not doing it w/ blackhat 'tricks') then it's a sign your site is working. So for me, one of the #1 things is ranks. That's not to say I need my entire website to rank - There are plenty of times where I've had blogs ranking or other pages but my main site didn't rank as well. That gave me more to strive for, but my point is that nobody should feel ashamed if their ranks are iffy because all it takes is 1 new page/blog/post to change that up.

I recommend google keyword planner if you want to find search volumes, plan out better keywords, etc.
For example, sometimes I'll take a blog that I have at end of page1, or on page2, do some keyword research, tweak the article and within a week bump myself up into top half of page1. It's not "THAT hard", but the #1 rule I always tell people is "high quality content > all". If you can do that, a lot of times ranks will come to you, especially if you can put in that little bit of extra keyword research and edits to seal the deal.

If anyone does want help, feel free to reach out & I'll try my best to give you some advice, but the best way to learn is to try!

I have done the keyword planner thing and no matter what keywords I use nothing seems to be happening.

They are quite important for any website owner. I'm actually happy to see that Gexforums has been doing well recently on Google Search Console! I need to work more on my other websites though.

Sorry to hear that - just curious, are you going for some competitive keywords?
Certain keywords can be hard to rank for, even if your content uses them & your domain name uses them. Definitely don't give up too soon, it can take time to really see ranks improve!

Yes, it is important for reaching a wider audience and increasing visibility. Search engine rankings are crucial for driving organic traffic and increasing online presence. Achieving high rankings can lead to better brand recognition and increased credibility.

The rankings are very important as they place the website on the place they can be easily noticed by the internet users.

Yeah I know, I just don't have the patience lol and I suppose with my forum only being 2 months old maybe that is why?

I don’t get obsessed with it but at the same time you don’t wanna get blacklisted from google so i do matain it the best i can too.

I always aim for top 3 search engine result page, if not on the top search result. Ranking helps me to get organic traffic

The only way you’ll get blacklisted from google is if your site has harmful content and google has flagged it as unsafe for users. Only illegal websites tend to get blacklisted and warez sites.

They’re very important to me as they drive in organic traffic and I’ve managed to maintain my top 3 rankings on various keywords for a long time now. Long tail and short tail keywords are always good to target.

I'm one of what I'd imagine is a tiny number of forum owners that doesn't care for SEO. The forums I manage or own are either for customer service provision or by invitation only and not available to the general public.
