As of right now, I still have not gotten it. I promise I'm a good driver but the instructor I had both times would randomly yell at me and say "STOP" when there was nothing to stop at.........
That and he turned on the AC full blast, I was sitting there freezing, which did not help. So hopefully third times a charm. 😛
I got my license on the first try when I was sixteen years old. I've had it suspended a few times, but not for traffic law violations. My license is currently intact and valid as of now!
I got my license due to bring in driving school. I didn't have to take the actual test at the department of vehicles and whatever. It only took one try but I had been driving prior to taking driving school lessons.
I passed it on the first try. Part of that may have been that my test was the last of the day, and my instructor seemed to have had it and just wanted to go home. That, and the roads were very icy, so I didn't have to do anything fancy like parallel parking. Not that I'm complaining.
I passed it on my first try when I was 18. There was a lot of pressure for me to pass it. I had gotten a job that was 25 miles away. I worked there for about a month when I had to tell my boss that I couldn't afford to work there because I was giving my Dad $40/day to fill up his tank (which was one of those big conversion vans) with him dropping me off, going home, then getting me it was a lot of money for gas. My boss convinced the company owners to give me a $1000 loan to get a car, gave me a raise so I can pay it off by having it auto-deducted each check to pay it back. He also lent me his car (Pontiac Gran Am) for a week to practice for a week. I had to learn how to drive in 5 days. It was so nerve wracking but I definitely had the motivation to pass it.
I haven't actually did the driving test. Though if memory serves me right, if one does the drivers test through the DMZ where I live, and not go through one of the training schools, you need to take a 60 mile road trip. 😛
