I run a site that doesn't get a ton of views a month but I would like to be able to make some money off of it. How many pageviews should a site get a month to make it worth using something like Adsense?
I'm not sure there really is a "right or wrong" answer. Some places require you to have a certain level of activity to even run a campaign while others allow you to toss up ads from the start.
I personally always start out with a couple ads within a week from the date I open the site. I know there are some that wait a while before actually digging in with this but I figure a couple cents here and there from ads never hurt anyone 😛.
I have talked to a few admins that don't put ads on their forums till the 1,000 post mark while there are others like me that throw them up and let them do whatever. For example, I just opened a forum last week and already made a couple dollars off adbrite. Nothing to get excited about but again, a few pennies never hurt!
I think the biggest gripe I've heard is that new forums with ads make the administrator look desperate. I kinda disagree with that but that may be a whole different post altogether.
Yeah, well it is just tough to decided if it is worth putting it on. On my other site (which is a bit older than my current one) and I'm just wondering how many pageviews the forum should generate a month to make something like adsense worth it.
You probably need 15,000-30,000 pageviews every month to make some money. Though earning from ads is a whole lot easier when those people that are viewing your site, actually clicks those ads.
