Aside from the one in charge, how many other people take care of your site particularly if you have a forum? It may be a big expense becauese you have to pay the admin and the moderators especially if the forum is dyanamic with hundreds of active members. But I'm sure that dynamic site will earn its keep from the ads and sponsors. My idea of such a site needs 4 people to help the admin in managing the forum and the site.

At the height of my Gaming Network, I had over 80 staff xD

However, that's including all staff related to all of our servers. We had staff on our websites and forums. Then separate staff for every one of our gaming servers we had. Our biggest server had about 30 staff on it. With our other ones ranging from 5-15 staff members per server.

Then we also had social media managers, I think we had 5 of them. Each tasked with a certain social site.
& then we had our custom developers, model makers, map designers, etc.

Fun times.
Was fucking cancer though. lmao

When we had 120,000 members, we had 14 super moderators and 4 administrators. They were all volunteers. We did it because we enjoyed it, not for pay. You really don't need a crazy number of staff if you are able to organise people and make sure that you rotate people as needed. We often put our "permanent" mods into staff advisory where they still had access to mod forums, just no powers until such time as they can return. I've seen similar forums with like 40 mods and it is overkill.

Right now, we have 7 mods and 3 admins for less than 300 members. Many of the staff carried over from the old site, others are new. It's nice to have people on board that you already trust. Sure, it may be a lot of staff, but as the site grows, we need to have a solid staff in place, so we kept everyone on board who still wanted to be there.

Also, we have an editor team for helping to edit and publish articles, and a contributor team who write for us. Everyone is a volunteer. All of our funding came from donations, so it's completely self-sustaining right now.

If you're making a lot of money, absolutely, you probably should pay your staff something since they are part of the reason you are doing so well. In the case of a non-profit community site, that isn't possible. You just have to rely on the fact that people actually want to help their community and be a bigger part of it.

Used to be the max of three and now it's down to one single admin and that's me. Even though it shows three staff members they are not active.

with 200 members there is no need to have no more then two staff. Yet depends om how active the members are and in my case nope. So Just myself running the full website
