I pay around $5 per month. Shared Hosting that is.
Mee too, I got the promotion from the last Black Friday from Namecheap, just $0.88/ 1st year.
NameCheap is awesome for domains, especially when they have that 88 cent promo going on. I prefer GoDaddy though. Plus, their domains go as cheap as 99 cents. It just sucks that they only allow the coupon to be used once per account.
Who do you host with? The domain name shouldn't have a impact on the price of hosting.
My Virtual Private Server is about $500/year through InMotion. I use it to host small projects for clients, staging for clients, and my personal projects. I used to have a shared hosting plan through GoDaddy, but uptime % wasn't great. It also seemed like the ping to my server was getting slower every year, while the price went up.
Currently paying around $110 a year for my Hostinger account. I was going to use vBulletin cloud for a forum but since the devs never got around to converting my forum from phpBB to vBulletin I cancelled it and will be using DigitalOcean for that forum once I get the new software installed and the forum converted over to Discourse. (I'm currently using a credit for 60 days before they charge me.)
I'm not paying anything on my blog so it costs me $0. I've thought about going paid but don't think I'd have enough subscribers at the moment to be able to support that.
