My downloading the Moz toolbar for Chrome you can see this forum has 45 out of 100 being the best domain authority (DA).

However, though, I have a beef with DA. Note, a lot of times, you can simply spam sites to increase DA, so what good is it? I mean, if 100 dumb unrelated sites which oddly enough, have high DA, make your site seem more important then what it really is, then well, you see the problem!

But is it on the dot? meaning the right information. Not just an simple toolbar that generate any numbers

I think the numbers mean something, but as always, ranking can still be a challenge even with good numbers.

I think end of the day that most of us don't worry about the numbers and whatnot. If there site is active and they see new members join and content then I say all good.

But then again you always have to keep the search engine happy

DA 45 is a good score comparing to other forums. However, this factor is a score developed by Moz, the site has the higher score the better. I'd an article explaining about this here: What is Domain Authority?

Hope this helps!

As noted in my edited post, I think DA could be BS. The main reason being that you can just invite spammers to your forum or spam a bunch of sites and it will increase DA. In that case, it gives a fake sense of importance to your site.

Nonetheless, though, sites like Forum Promotion with DA around 45 do have ranking power, so maybe spamming gives short term domain authority increases like 0 to 30, but after that it gets tougher. I mean, everybody would spamming to the top otherwise!

Website Ranking does not depend on Domain Authority, it depends on the numbers of backlinks of a website. If you get backlinks through high domain authority website, your website domain authority automatically increase.

That's assuming it's worth it. I mean, if you already have something that could rank, you'd be more motivated. Otherwise, you might choose to dump it for PPC traffic or something.

This is absolutely correct. And if you think that getting some crappy links on high quality website is going to work, think again. Google is on to many of these tricks. If your focus is primarily on DA it's in the wrong place. The benefit of a domain's name and past reputation may be of some benefit but it will not rank like a star on its own. Without excellent content, it's just waiting to become irrelevant.

I would just be low-key and do thing naturally. Otherwise, you get suspicion run up. However, though, being too low-key etc.. makes it to where there isn't anything you can do. It's like you're in a straight-jacket, lol.

I don't think domain authority has much to do with rankings. It more depends on quality of content relevancy of your website among users. Moreover getting high TF backlinks from a relevant website may help you rank your website much better in a search engine.

Someone could go this route for traffic - or just use social media (which they would also have to pay). I mean, one choice could be as good as the other.
