How much personal info do you give on a site/forum? Do you ever reveal your real name, your real age, etc, especially if you're the owner?

My personal information has certainly made the rounds around here. 😛

I've got far too much info on the web, but it's really a box you can't close once you've opened it.

It's really sad that people can be such jerks. 🙁

I have a lot of online friends and I've learned to not be offended if someone doesn't tell me details such as name because they're just protecting themselves. Even knowing where they live isn't really important at times.

I've given out my fair share of personal info to people over the years online. I usually limit it to real name and age and general location though. As I get to know people and get more comfortable with them, I'll share more details. I have some online friends who I'm friends with on social media, and I recently shared my address with another who will be sending me a Christmas card this year! (Didn't do it this year as he didn't get it till after Christmas.)

Overall though, I'm not a prier. If you want to share, great. If not, no big deal. I'm more open about it with some than others, just depends on how well I know the person.

I've always been very guarded about how much personal information I'll put on the Internet. I've certainly never used my birth name, even Amazon doesn't have that.

I've given out my full name in my Sonic projects, but not on my websites. If you're friends with me on Facebook you know my real name but other than that I might mention where I live if it's in a topic that is talking about something that happened locally near me.

When I was a teenager, I'd put most of my personal information up for display. Nowadays, I rarely, if ever, use my full name or date of birth.

Heh.

I've created a "local celebrity" type brand with my Hiking with Shawn persona. Because of that, I'm all over the internet, in magazines, and have been on the news quite a bit.

I'm long past the "don't share my life on the internet" phase in my life. Haha.

On forums, though, I just do the basics. You got my name, birthday, and location.

I'm not fussed if people know my name or my age. On my Gizmo Networks site it's got my name and age. It's not really anything to hide.

I used to use my real name in the past but after some bad experience, I started using pseudo name. I also used to reveal age and even location, but now I don't.

I don’t give too much personal information. But sometimes I use real name and location

Typically, I prefer to only publicize what's needed. But, there are times I get into some really deep conversations where some personal information about my life does come out, like heatl issues and things of that nature.

My name, birth date, and address I don't mind giving out. I'm very careful where I input my ID.

Personally I try to keep my real life stuff separate from online things. I don't really share my real name, age or personal info on forums or websites, even if im the owner of it.

For me its more about the community and the gaming/content side of things, not my personal life. Once info is online you cant really take it back, and you never know who’s looking, so I just keep life things outside of online as much as possible.

I’ve given away basically everything except my address and social security number. 😛
