How much traffic has Forum Promotion sent You?

I no longer bother to advertise on FP as it leads to no sales and there are too many "kids" that are on here that want everything for nothing.

I'm glad it isn't just me then. 😛 We get all our sales from other avenues.

Darn. How often would you say you promote your site on here? (Bumping your promotion thread, ordering services, etc?)

I don't anymore. Simple reasons:

- Over half-arsed packages from the PT;
- I've had a review - I don't need another one.
- I'm over promoting to get nowhere
- Peer to peer stuff, from me is always rejected vice "I don't know about your niche"

It's all bull, IMO.

I agree that I haven't gotten much traffic from here apart from exchanges, but I can't complain about the packages though, I haven't had many issues except for the one or two times staff marked my package as complete, when they hadn't done anything at all.

Otherwise, I agree that advertising is b.s. which is why I use my ad thread as a place to post updates.. I've been running my forum for a decade, and so it's always interesting to see the change across previous versions and differences in stats.

And yeah, I know too well about the people "who don't know what your forum is about."

Except in my case, they were usually lazy idiots who couldn't be bothered with reading a 1 or 2 line description. I actually had that issue with package staff on other ad forums who said "they couldn't post on a Twilight forum" even though, there wasn't anything remotely related to Twilight on my forum, (and I have had even more idiots assume that it was a porn forum because Sex is merely one out of the A-Z discussions we've got there, (and apparently sex=porn for these people) nevermind the fact that I was on free hosting which barred the same stuff they did, and, I provided the staff with a guest account with access to that area so they could see for themselves) and I specified as such in my ad, exchange, and package request threads.

To make matters worse, when they locked my topic, because they couldn't do the package, they said that it was a Twilight/porn site I started a support topic, with enlarged screenshots indicating that there wasn't anything related to Twilight or porn on my forum, and the admin himself, ended up fulfilling the package. He did an excellent job, but I never went back there for exchanges, ads, or anywhere those 2 morons happened to be staff, which ended up being quite a few places, but they never really took off.

My favorite, is when these same people say they don't like "general forums" turn around, and not only are active at other general forums, but then start one themselves and have the audacity to request an exchange with me.

In other words, I've gotten more traffic from not advertising than I did with advertising. I advertised like hell when I was on PB, and I had 2,514 posts when I closed that forum to move to IF, most of the posts being between me and the active people there. I barely advertised when I was on IF, ended up closing that forum with 6,031 posts. When I reopened on Jcink, I was doing exchanges on various ad forums with even less advertising, and I ended up getting past 70k..

And while I've had exchangers that stuck around, and people who clicked my sig after reading my posts, here or on other forums, I wouldn't go as far by saying that it was FP traffic, so much as, those who liked my exchange, or me personally and decided to stick around. I do think that software and hosting also made the difference.

What is your total traffic though? 12% doesn't really give me any information. You could have gotten 10 hits this month with one of them being from FP. Or 100 hits with 12 being from FP.

Thats what Alexa suggests 12% > http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/adminads.com ... google stats shows 946 sessions so it must be 12% of that.

Well, at the moment, I have been getting less than 100 hits a month from here, but it is because I was doing nothing to advertise the site, other than having a link in my mini profile. Decided to remove the link till I can solve a few personal issues.

Though, a couple of forums I have been working on, I may start tracking traffic to them when they are officially online, so that I know how effective I am being with advertising.

It's no loner worth my time to even promote on FP. To me, it's a waste of time that I can't get back. There is another forum I promote on and each week I promote, there are like 5-10 conversions...Something FP can't do in over 4 years.

Forum promotion have sent me a fair amount of traffic to my forum. They have managed to kick-start my forum and get discussions going for my members to discuss.
