I usually defrag my hard drive when I remove or add a lot of stuff, or when ever Windows tell me to.

Some people claim it is not neccessary and just adds a lot of un needed wear and tear on a drive, but other people claim that defraging a drive increases it life because the HD read/Write head does not have to move as much to access the same file because after the drive is defrag.

The file is continous instead of parts of it being everywhere.

What is your opinion on how often a user should defrag a drive?

I do a manual defrag every week or so, it truly does help with performance when you've got alot of junk on your PC 😛

I only defrag when I remember lol. I know a little about computer stuff 🙁.

Mine does it automatically every Friday evening. I sometimes do it manually during the week if alot of stuff is added or deleted.

Rarely, I usually do it when I finished installing something large, though I never do it on Linux.

Also, if you have an SSD, don't defrag.

I got told from a computer expert to defrag your computer once a month. if you do it too open you degrade the performance of the hard-drive

THIS REMINDED ME TO DEFRAG.

Lol. Last time was like September, and I do the Windows Vista cleanup thing ALOT lol.

EDIT: I turned on the program and apparently it autoruns every week.
