In this article I didn't intend humor to play an immense role in it. I did throw in some jokes here and there, although I aimed to get the point across on why your userbase is leaving your forum.

Many people struggle to maintain a userbase even though they're doing everything in their will to keep those 7 members there. Whereas, others are a natural at completely getting rid of their members that chose to stay on the forum. In this article I'll cover 5 points on how to completely alienate and lose your userbase in seven quick days.

Read the rest of the article here.

When you say that forum owners should "update" their forum, what kind of updates are you referring to?

Some good stuff here! Actually though, some people have great success starting out on a free forum, then if it takes off well, moving it to a better host later. It's a good way to start off if you're not sure it will work out or you will want to do it long term.

Really nice article! And yeah, I agree that 000Webhost is definitely not the way to go. I've tried them and everything was just downright slow. It was pathetic and by the time I got my activation email, I was ready to leave and not look back, almost litterally. But I also disagree to an extent, because I have been on some successful forums hosted on free hosting sites, and while I agree that they aren't always the best option in the long run, they ARE good for if you want to get some first hand experience on what running a forum is actually like. There are people out there who don't mind the limitations that comes with a free host and are actually used to that.

Updates as in new features, announcements, etc.

Thanks to everyone also for the great feedback, I've just started a new blog here:

You certainly go straight to the point and are very harsh but you get the information across.
