Im located in Savannah, GA. Looking for an entry level IT job around the area. I dont mind relocate to Atlanta. I have applied to a few jobs on the Internet with no luck. Mainly looking for system admin but Im willing to start from the bottom as a technician. Any good job posting sites do you recommend?
Have you tried going to career fairs, and trade shows like CES, but trade shows more focus for entry IT workers than electronics like CES?
Joining IT related clubs/groups might help you meet people already working in IT to recommend you a job.
Colleges usually have job placement, or your guidance counselor may help you find resources to look for a job.
I heard from people that it is good to go to the places you want to work at, and physically giving your cover letter and resume to the secretary/ front desk to make yourself standout from the hundreds of people who use e-mail, and online job websites to apply for the same job.
Phoning the company up asking for work might work as well.
Thanks for the tips froggyboy.
yea I went to school job fair. The result was disappointing. Only one employer was specifically looking for IT staffs. I will definitely look into joining a groups or something. I got my Linkedin account setup and getting training offers on there from time to time. I like the idea of looking up the place you wanna work at and hand over physical copies. I might do that locally.
Find a networking event. I'd suggest hitting local community boards, local chamber of commerce sites, etc. and search for some events that either are in your field or would have potential employers for your field.
Then you just talk and get to know people. Be open that you're a college student looking for a job. Sell yourself.
