It appears as though you need to pay a certain amount of money per year after that to use NameCheap. Is that the case here as well?

What do you mean by "pay a certain amount of money per year after that to use NameCheap"? You have to pay each year to renew any domains you have but that is the same no matter what company you buy the domain through.

Okay, thanks! Although that is not entirely true, I did find a one-time-pay host that actually was legit, but I lost the link. If I find it, I will give it to you to use instead of whoever you are using now.

I highly doubt that site will still be around and I highly doubt it was a legit site anyway. Unless that one time fee was unbelievably high (or it wasn't offering free TLD's), they would not be able to offer domains at a cheap one-off price forever.

If that was the case then they would be alot more popular than the "big boys" like Namecheap and Godaddy.

Just wanted to point out that 2 month wait is to transfer registrars; eg namecheap to Godaddy, that's what that page which you link to in the first post is about.

Who would you send the cash to? I don't think they would take cash, you would need a credit card. Also, it would be probably be the average rate or higher.

I suggest checking out namecheap or godaddy for a domain.
