I finally have a couple members on my forum who seem interested. I mean literally a couple. 5 members, three active (that includes me).

I'm starting to advertise a little more, see if I can get more people, but in the meantime I'm looking for ideas for how to keep the two members that are there. Contests seem a bit silly with only two members.

Don'tt expect any more out of them than you would yourself.

make topics, to keep things freshed.

i always can't stand an admin who won't get involved themselves in the forum activity.

be sure to reply to EVERYTHING that is posyted, so members feel even more welcomed that the admin takes notice in each and every member.

it's your involvement, not the amount of prizes they can win, that shows members they're welcomed each visit, and they'll come back.

i have over 250 members, about 30 active poer day, and roughly 40-45 actively on a week. and, almost half of them are members who joined during the firat few weeks of the forum.

just stay involved, and cater to each member, personally, and allow a little freedom from your stricter rules at the beginning, til they;'re more understood.

annd while advertising, put your forum link in your sig. i "might've " clicked it just now, reading your post 😉

Unfortunately it is very very hard to keep hold of your first members unless what you are offering is unique. As hcf said above just keep things fresh and post and reply as much as you can. Make sure you help them with any problems they have and welcome them.

Well, i see you added your link. I'm confused,,, is your forum "for" or "against" animal's rights?

just curious, cause if "against" i don't know if that's going to go too well. i don't know many who will openly, and freely talk about animal abuse.

We are against animal rights. We are FOR animal welfare. Animal rights is not animal welfare. We do not tolerate animal abuse, nor do we tolerate animal rightists. We do welcome those who believe in AR because they think that AR and AW are the same thing.

There are a large number of people who are very much opposed to animal rights. I'm just waiting for them to find their way over. -razz-

Thanks! That'll help me sleep a little better.

I would be lying if i said it was easy... There is no point me saying that is is really easy when it isn't is there as that is not going to help you. If you know it is hard it will make you work harder and that is what forums need to get started. Hard work.

If you have a supporting member group (for those who donate), make your first few members supporting members for life as a thank you for being the first few. I did this on an admin forum I used to run and those members stayed and were pretty active. 🙂

Interesting idea. I'm considering it. I don't currently have a group for people who donate - I'm not currently asking for donations, but I could do something similar.
