Well, I don't have a job, I'm just in school but so are all of my other members. Chances are we're in class at the same time, though that's not always the case of course. Not to mention even if I am in class and am needing to do something on my forum, I do have my laptop and can either pull up firefox in the middle of a lecture or wait till right after class to check on something. It's not too hard to manage in my situation, with my niche.

Something other forums do and I have considered doing is giving your staff and/or trusted members your cell phone number so they can text you if something is going wrong or you're needed on the forum. If you're working or in a class that you have no computer access in, you can't do much at that moment, but you know to immediately see about the problem as soon as you can instead of possibly taking more leisure time after you've left where ever you were.

Im in school aswill (high school yr11) but except the australian systems are abit strong they have blocked access to gmail & my site since it gatagrized as a admin forum..

This is one of the reasons why my previous forums failed, so if i did open another forum, I need to get around this somehow..

Nothing's blocked in college. It's wonderful.

Well the school did give me a school laptop which i can go on at home and there 3G has gmail blocked and just there normal internet 😀

but i dont understand why they would block a simple webmaster forum?

Use a Smartphone, Tablet, or Netbook with your own 3G/4G internet subscription which you subscribe to with a cell phone company.

You can also use a Proxy server, or make your own Proxy server to access sites which are blocked at school.

Ive got to becarefull, this laptop of have is a locked up government hunk of junk?

my budget is only about $90 a fortnight to myself so what are some good deals for a netbook?
i need one badly

You might be able to get a Used Netbook or Laptop off of eBay, or Craigslist. You can also asks friends, family, and people you know if they have any used laptops or netbooks you can sell to you, or let you borrow or rent to you.

I don't check my website in the day time. I have a co admin on a different school schedule than me, which is awesome. 🙂

What I like to do is set aside an hour a day before homework to sit down and do EVERYTHING I need to do. It's quiet in my house around that time, so I work well.

So who does the advertising? my goal is to get it to be active atleast 12 people on all the time, so i need to work out how i can get staff members to be on all the time to monitor it..

You can talk with a friend, a brother or sister..anyway ask someone to help you. Any work is much easier in two.

Possibly, even finding a friend who works on a different timezone or schedule to you to keep the ball rolling.

Yes I'd love to get more members to my site. We aren't doing bad, but i would like more active people. proxy sites are wonderful

proxy sites are blocked in australia :/

See what i could do, im debating at the moment get back to yous on this thread soon..

so sites like supportforums.net or FP how do they get active the owner isnt on all the time..

If you have serious concerns about the lack of time you have, starting a new project may not be the best thing to do.

In the early days when I was the owner here, I was heavily involved in the site and visited and posted alot. It is only since the forum has become (for the most part) self sustaining that the current owner (Fergal) and I have become alot less involved due to our other commitment and our offline lives.

On bigger sites, they sustain themselves. It's only really necessary to handle admin duties, not posting. 🙂

But it takes YEARS to get to that point, not overnight.

Ok, i need to ask how must time are you on FP per day fowler? now and when it started.

I might be able to if 6 hours a day is enough and if i hire the right staff in a diffrent time zone then me this might make it possible.

Now that i have a computer i might succeed better with this forum that i might be starting soon.

-- September 12th, 2012, 11:39 am --
